The colorful city of Porto, Portugal has to much to see and do. From walking around looking at the azulejos to a river cruise to wine country you will never be bored! Here’s what I recommend!
What to see:
Douro River
Porto Cathedral
Azulejos tiles that cover all of the buildings
Church of Saint Ildefonso- this tile covered building is Porto at it’s finest
Livaria Lello- this library is rumored to have inspired J.K. Rowling to write Harry Potter and once you see this beautiful library you will know why
São Bento Railway Station
Church Igreja Dos Carmelitas
What To Do:
Take a day trip to the Douro Valley
Take a sunset cruise on the Douro River to see Porto from the water
Walk the iconic Dom Luis I Bridge across the beautiful Douro River
Shop local markets for beautiful Portuguese products
Relax at the Crystal Palace Gardens that overlook the Douro River
Port Wine tour at Sandeman in the new side
What To Eat & Drink:
Traditional Francesinhas sandwich
Any/all seafood
Pasteis de Nata custard tarts (my favorite!)
Local cured meats and sausage
Local olive oil
Local Cheese
Port Wine/ any wine!
Where To Eat & Drink:
Majestic Cafe- iconic cafe that has been around since 1920
Cafe do Cais- Great riverside spot for drinks and appetizers
ODE Porto Wine House- my favorite dinner, quite possibly ever
Camafeu- great fancy dinner/lunch spot
Bufete Fase- the best lunch spot in Porto for a Francesinhas sandwich. Get there early because a line will form around the block
Restaurant LSD- good dinner spot in a lively square
Cantina 32- Trendy dinner spot with great food
Livraria de Baixa- great wine bar on a busy shopping street
